MSM Perlis Sdn. Bhd. operates the sugar refinery in Chuping, Perlis. Located on the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, the refinery operates with an annual production capacity of 180,000 tonnes of refined sugar, representing approximately 16% of MSM’s total production capacity.
Established in 1971, MSM Perlis over the decades has excelled in meeting the domestic demands for the best grade sugars. Most importantly, it has also dedicated itself to elevating and advancing the socio-economic status of the district of Chuping.
MSM Perlis produces high-quality refined sugar products, prominently the Industrial Grade Sugar (Course Grain CG and Fine Grain FG) and Commercial Grade Sugar and are sold within the domestic market. All its products are certified by SIRIM, HACCP and are certified HALAL.
Plans are in the works to expand the sugar refining capacity of MSM Perlis to 200,000 tonnes per year by 2015. This will be enabled through the installation of additional equipment such as centrifuges and increasing automation in its production processes.
With a warehouse facility on-site, as well as a bulk cargo terminal at the Prai refinery, products are transported throughout Malaysia mainly via road and sea. A handful of customers also take delivery of products directly from the warehouse and from the bulk cargo terminal.
With a daily production of 600 metric tonnes, MSM Perlis is poised to become one of the nation's leading producer of refined sugar in the near future.
